Our Team

Our vision and mission

The Vocational Academy of Makeup and Prosthetics (VAMP) is a professional makeup training school located in Orlando, Florida. We seek to provide our students with a modern education in the field of professional makeup artistry. We offer comprehensive courses teaching both special makeup effects as well as beauty makeup.

VAMP is also home to one of metro Orlando’s most comprehensive makeup effects store, The Vamporium. Our school and store provide our students and customers with the most current methods and products in the industry. We will provide customers with the products and education they need to become a professional makeup artist.

All of our team members are working makeup artists with experience in film, television, photography, theater, and more.  The VAMP team met working at Universal Orlando, where they are a part of the makeup team that brings events, like Halloween Horror Nights and Grinchmas, to life.

Heather Fildes

Heather is the owner here at VAMP.  She graduated from Duke University in 2010 with bachelor’s degrees in Visual Arts as well as Psychology with a focus in Adolescent Development.  She also completed the Markets and Management Studies program while at Duke, a certificate program for undergraduates that focuses on business, organizations, and entrepreneurship.  Upon graduating, she began working as a makeup artist at places like MAC, Blue Whale Studios, and Universal Orlando.  In addition to doing makeup and creating all types of art, she has a passion for helping young people find their path in life and discover a career that brings them joy.

Brian Mahoney

Brian is a IATSE Local 798 Union makeup artist.  He was determined to become a special effects makeup artist since the age of 16. After nearly 10 years of self-taught experience, Brian wanted to further his knowledge with a formal education. In 2009, he enrolled in Tom Savini’s Special Effects Makeup Program at the Douglas Education Center in Monessen, Pennsylvania, where he obtained an associate’s degree in Specialized Business.  Brian is an seasoned sculptor and mold maker, with experience working in prosthetic labs where he would create battle wound simulated prosthetics to train combat medics for the United States Army.  He has experience in film and television, and strives for a sense of realism with all of his makeups.

Michael Gore

Michael is a self-taught makeup artist who found his passion at an early age.  Shortly after high school, he attended Full Sail University to learn more about the film industry.  A cosplayer at heart, he learned the tricks of the trade on how to fabricate grand scale costumes and props, and soon moved into the makeup aspect of the field. He became fascinated with the illusion that makeup effects can provide for actors, both on stage and screen.  Michael has worked in the Makeup, Costuming, and Fabrication departments at Universal Orlando.  He is meticulous in all of his makeup applications and his eye for detail makes him a truly excellent artist.

Rocco Gaglioti Jr.

Rocco is a IATSE Local 798 Union member and has been working as a makeup artist since 2008.  His career landscape has been diverse, including both special effects and beauty artistry, which has allowed him to work on exciting projects that require both of these skill sets.  Rocco is a traveling regional artist for Bobbi Brown and has worked for companies like MAC, Dior, and Elizabeth Arden.  Since 2017, he has worked as part of a team of 8 international makeup artists in Hong Kong, creating and designing characters at Ocean Park’s Halloween Fest.
